ABOUT THE ARTIST
...

Rebecca's creative process evolved through her captivation with street art and graffiti. The variation of styles, signatures and expressions are a vehicle for her practice, nurtured through each individual’s work she discovers. Within this field of practice of graffiti, she is fascinated by eccentricity and personalities who are anti-establishment, with works that are often politically charged. Their practices allow the public to bear witness to societal feelings, emotions and views from their own personal worlds. Taking influence from these anonymous artists brings peace of mind knowing that through the art world anything and everything is possible, and that with confidence comes no peripheries. Judgement relies solely on interpretation, and absorbing energy from viewers, whether positive or negative, and can impact an artist’s work to unimaginable depths.

Painting over the last three years during the completion of her Fine Art Painting and Drawing BA (Hons) has granted Rebecca the opportunity to develop a practice she is curious about, building a relationship with art backgrounds that she otherwise would not have had the possibility to study. Graffiti has become a tremendously important part of not just her practice but her exploration into differing art forms and territories, and how not all blend equally into one. The correspondence between graphic interfaces in proximity to contemporary painting suggesting the interlinking similarities, perhaps through their visual design and construction, leaves both forms approaching a potential visual communication throughout the art world.
